I just wanted to say that wherever you go it will be 100% of you. Couldn't resist. As everyone said, it is needs of the Army. Ten years ago, they didn't even bother giving new recruits a say. It only complicated matters. Fort Stewart and Fort Benning are not too far away from beaches. Everyone else gave very good answers so I won’t add to the list. I gave up going to the beach permanently when I joined the Army. If you wanna do that why would you not join the coast guard or Navy? In the army as an enlisted soldier you have very little to no say in where you go. Tell the recruiter to go **** himself and join the navy man, hell only follow you home a couple times. The chances of you getting to pick your first duty station is slim to none, because your considered Needs Of The Army. Which basically means where ever the army needs you, thats where your going. Lee Va. with Va Beach about another two hours away and again with your job, you're not going there.
