Everyone else gave very good answers so I won't add to the list. I just wanted to say that wherever you go it will be 100% of you. Couldn't resist. As everyone said, it is needs of the Army. Ten years ago, they didn't even bother giving new recruits a say. It only complicated matters.

Fort Stewart and Fort Benning are not too far away from beaches.

Less than 1%. They don't call it The Dream Sheet for no reason!!!!!!!!!

Nobody else is shooting for Schofield either should be no problem. Ask for the 25th. They have an AB BCT at Ft. Richardson, it not too far from the Pacific...maybe 25 - 30 miles. Do you like salmon fishing? Hunting Griz or Moose?? Say hi to Sarah for me. I like younger, powerfull women! MMMMM cute brunette!!

Good Luck kid! Hang in there for that 2nd enlistment. Tis a bit easier then!

PS The strippers do thier tanning on weekdays. At least they did 17 years ago when I got surrounded by 4 groups of them while napping on Sandy Beach.

I was born in San Diego and grew up on a beach.. I gave up going to the beach permanently when I joined the Army. If you wanna do that why would you not join the coast guard or Navy? In the army as an enlisted soldier you have very little to no say in where you go. Tell the recruiter to go **** himself and join the navy man, hell only follow you home a couple times.

If you want to go to a base of your choice your best option is have in your contract BEFORE you ship out. The chances of you getting to pick your first duty station is slim to none, because your considered Needs Of The Army. Which basically means where ever the army needs you, thats where your going. Just ask your recruiter before you sign up.

You want to join the Army and be near a beach?? The closest installation I could think of would be Ft. Rucker Alabama where the "beach is 90 miles away but as a LWV mechanic you're not going there. The other would be Ft. Lee Va. with Va Beach about another two hours away and again with your job, you're not going there. If you have to have a beach try the Navy or the Marines, but Army bases are not positioned within easy distance of any beachside resorts.

Actually there are Army bases close to beaches... Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter in Hawaii..... good chance you can find a beach there I think. Fort Stewart, GA is a short drive to a beach. Fort Lewis, WA is right by Tacoma, WA and you can drive easily to a beach (although not as warm all the time) Now, as far as getting duty station of choice coming into the Army that is no longer an option (it is reserved for qualified prior service applicants) Now you will fill out an assignment preference for three stateside (conus) and 2 overseas (oconus) assignments. The Army will put you where they need you but you might get lucky. However, you will not get you choice of assignment in your enlistment contract as they used to a few years ago. Good luck to you.

its not very likely. you could go airborne and get stationed at ft bragg. its about 90 minutes drive from wilmington beach in NC. like 3 hr from myrtle. and 4 hrs from VA beach. other wise you could try for ft benning or ft stewart. they are both in GA. and close to the east coast and FL. i wanted ft bragg, so i went airborne ifantry and got it. they do allow you to pick 3 conus and oconus bases you would prefer. but they dont promise you anything
